The Dream Stealers: Ten Masterful Thieves of Success

We are fortunate to live in an epoch where opportunities are around every corner. In our towns, cities, and nations opportunities abound everywhere, and some may believe that the new technology is at the heart of it all. Think of what we have gained as a species as we uncover many more mysteries with the new technology, however, in spite of our many advancements we still have not overcome the negatives in life that rob us of our dreams, hopes, and aspirations… Even though we have reached a high tide in humanity when we look at our technological advances, a basic number of psychological thieves still proliferate amongst us, stealing the hope for a better future from our very hands. This is a sad reminder of what we could be but we aren’t at the moment. While a myriad of chances exist to achieve the material, social, and spiritual goals we set our sights upon, many are not successful. Why?

About the Book
  1. Fear

The universe is a living, churning, seething sea of primordial energy, pure energy that is the remnant of the hallowed moment when everything was created from nothing.  At that time, the largest of galaxies were formed and the smallest of microbes were created. Until recently, scientists believed that the space between the planets and the universes was an empty, forbidden, barren area of outer space. Dead, devoid of life, a sea of nothingness.  However, modern-day science has proved this once accepted truth is a fallacy, now it is proven that the space between the smallest and the largest objects is full of positive and negative energy, energy that is attracted to like energy and energy that is repelled by unlike energy. This discovery has led to an amazing paradigm shift that has created many opportunities for humankind. That’s the good news, the bad is that many are not capitalizing on these opportunities to achieve what they want to achieve in this life. And one of the culprits that stand in the way of many of us from achieving what we want is the feeling of fear, the primary dream stealer of humanity.

Humankind has been hard-wired for survival, just as other species that abound throughout our world, if not then there would be no future for us or others of their kind. However, there is a difference. Daily, the members of the animal kingdom face death at the hands of the predator next up on the ladder of survival; lions seek out zebra, alligators search for sunfish, and falcons look for pigeons to enable each to live another day and carry on their species. Nature can be cruel, but nature is also fair as the checks and balances lumber on through eternity to provide the progenitors of a particular species of fowl, fish, or animal a means of survival. By contrast, the human species no longer has to look over a shoulder to be sure they aren’t the main protein source of a wild animal or rival tribe member. While we are safe in that regard, we aren’t safe from ourselves and the perceived danger that we feel is hanging over our collective heads like Damocles’s sword. Within our own bodies, we harbour enough poison to shorten our life and probably a handful more of our species. So, rather than be focused upon surviving from a beast, we now must be concerned about the ills of civilization that hide within our own bodies and minds. Hence we feel stress, paranoia, hate, envy, anger and so forth, all negative but not all that may cause us the loss of something or somebody.

Fear in the modern age appears to us in many forms: we fear that we will be laid-off from our jobs; we fear that we will get a phone call at midnight that bears sad news about our family; we fear that a storm will strike our town and leave a battered shell of what it once was. While some of our fears are rational many are irrational. Our bodies are created to handle fear and our natural response is both psychological and physiological. Fortunately or unfortunately, our minds can’t discern between a valid reason for fear and an invalid reason for fear, and the consequences of this flaw or strength can be fatal to our bodies and our minds. On the one hand, our psychological reaction to fear can rob us of a joyful, meaningful because we only see ourself in harm’s way with the high probability that we will suffer pain, loss, and sadness, and loneliness in our lives. This is the result of our brain processing what we see, think, feel from an irrational point of view, for some reason your rational thinking is bypassed and replaced with the irrational, therefore, we see, feel, sense the negatives and once allowed to take over, they form bad habits that are hard to get rid of. For example, you had an accident one snowy night in December and for years after every time it snows at night the fear of another accident creeps into your mind and you feel fear, dread, angst over the fact it might happen again at any time. You’re just waiting for the accident that probably won’t happen.
